Manchester United has confirmed that England striker, Marcus Rashford will undergo major surgery on his shoulder and will miss the start of the English Premier League (EPL) season.
In a statement released on the club website, Rashford who played with a shoulder injury throughout last season could be out for as long as three months.
“Following consultation between Marcus, the manager, club medical staff and specialists, Marcus will undergo surgery imminently to resolve his shoulder injury,” United said in a statement.
“He will now focus on his rehabilitation in order to return as soon as possible.” The statements read.
However, missing one of its best legs at the beginning of a new campaign might create damage for the manager, Ole Gunnar Solskajear who just extends his stay at the Old Trafford until 2024.
Although, Jadon Sancho’s signing will give the team more options in attack while Raphael Varane’s addition into the squad might be the solution Solskjaer seeks in building a team that can compete and win a trophy.
There has also been a rumour about Paul Pogba’s possible exit as an unconfirmed report disclosed PSG’s interest in signing the French international.
Manchester United begins its EPL campaign against Leeds at Old Trafford on August 14.
