The European football governing body UEFA has confirmed the attendance of fans at the stadium for the Super Cup match between Chelsea and the Spanish side, Villarreal.

According to the body, 13,000 fans will watch the match in next month’s UEFA Super Cup final, giving traveling clearance to the Villarreal supporters.

The match will be played in Belfast at the national stadium Windsor Park on August 11, 2021.

However, to gain entrance into the stadium, fans are to provide proof of double vaccination or provide a negative Covid test on entry.

Irish FA chief executive Patrick Nelson said: “This represents a 30 percent reduction in the overall stadium capacity and recognizes the need to remain cautious given the ongoing health situation in Northern Ireland.

“We will continue to work closely with our partners at UEFA and the Northern Ireland Executive in the lead-up to the game and look forward to delivering a memorable night for football in Belfast and Northern Ireland.”

Villarreal won its first major trophy in a tense encounter against Manchester United.

The Yellow submarine defeated the Red Devils 11-10 on penalties in the Europa League final while Chelsea won their second Champions League title by beating Manchester City.
